I wrote this song for people like me who feel scared about the state of our country, our home. It's even more true now that "only love will take care of this". Love for each other and for ourselves. We have to practice self care which is hard for a lot of us. But this is where it starts....we have to stay home when we can, wash our hands, put "our own mask on first", be kind to ourselves, love ourselves so we can in turn love and be of service to others. This is not easy at times, I know, but it is doable. We can do this. Together.
FIGHTING WITH OUR HEARTS
I show up at 9:15
for my appointment
it's just routine
Did you know
it's been a year
since you filled out
our simple questionnaire
Are you eating much?
How's your sleep?
Do you apply for jobs
You'll never keep?
So many people are feelin' scared
feelin' down about this state of affairs

what's causing it?
So many things we can
blame it on
Look around
There's so much wrong
This is when those of us who see
Must stand together for liberty
